Accessible Travel & Tourism Program

Our Accessible Travel Voucher Program is designed to provide support to our clients for accessible travel to attend school/training, meetings, and events.  Through our partnerships with  Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) we offer ride-sharing vouchers resulting in a reduced or free cost.  

Program Highlights:  

• Reduced or Free Accessible Transportation:  Upon funding approval, clients can obtain transportation at a reduced rate or, in some cases, completely free of charge.

• Personalized Assistance: Our team works closely with clients to tailor our support, ensuring that the transportation solution is not only accessible but also convenient.

• Seamless Booking: We work with transportation service providers to simplify the transportation booking process.  

• Diverse Service Providers: We collaborate with a wide network of accessible transportation providers committed to the highest standards of accessibility and customer service.

• Application Process: Participating in our program is straightforward. Clients can apply through our website. We review applications, taking into account mission factors,  client location and accessibility requirements.

Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) is a specialized type of taxicab, ridesharing, or for-hire vehicle designed or modified to accommodate passengers who rely on mobility devices such as wheelchairs and scooters. These vehicles play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals by providing them with a means of transportation that meets their unique needs.

Compliance with Accessibility Standards

Our commitment to ensuring accessibility for our clients through our service providers is in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accessibility Guidelines for Transportation Vehicles designing and modifying vehicles to be wheelchair accessible. These guidelines mandate features such as ramps, securement systems, and proper interior dimensions to accommodate mobility devices safely and comfortably.

Additionally, the Department of Transportation (DOT) enforces requirements to promote accessibility in transportation. Compliance with DOT regulations ensures that WAVs are equipped with the necessary safety features and are operated by drivers who are trained to assist passengers of all abilities.
